Amazon.com Product Description:
The upright Hoover U6637-900 combines Hoover's signature technologies--WindTunnel and Self-propelled vacuums--to give you the ultimate deep cleaning machine that is also easy to use. The patented WindTunnel technology uses computer designed dual air ducts and a vertical air pattern that direct the air flow along the front and rear of the agitator cavity and across the full width of the nozzle. They not only lift the dirt, but trap it so it won't fall back into your carpet. The WTSP (WindTunnel self-propelled) offers unmatched surface and deep cleaning on carpets of all types from deep plush to Berber, to low nap commercial styles and it even vacuums hard floors too.

Customer Reviews

overall not bad for the price
I think the vacuum is pretty good for the price. It cleans great and the tool attachments also works very well. As for dumping out the container...I have used a couple of other bagless type vacuums and this one would rate about in the middle for messyness. As long as you spin the hepa filter inside the canister unit, it is not that bad.
I have a small problem with the self propelled not shutting off, but otherwise I like it allot.
One draw back is that it does not work on throw rugs, it will suck up the rugs, even the heavier ones.

Hoover Disappoints
I bought a Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagless with Powered Hand Tool (Model U6637-960) in July 2007. I was reasonably happy with it until the motor burned out last week - just 4 months past the warranty date. I have a two-bedroom apartment; this Hoover received very moderate use. Of course I checked for problems with the roller, belts, and visible clogs. The dirt cup had been recently emptied. The next step would have been to take it to a dealer for repair.

I'm finished with Hoovers. I now have a Bissell Momentum Bagless (Model 82G7-1) that I quite like, so far. It is much lighter weight than the Hoover, and easier to maneuver. One of the features I liked about the Hoover was the powered hand tool attachment. The Bissell has the same type of attachment (TurboBrush). Suction through both the base the attachment hose is very good - better than the Hoover. The dirt cup is separate from the filter (unlike the Hoover) and easier to remove and empty. On the down side, the Bissell's dirt cup is smaller and has to be emptied frequently. I paid [...] for the Hoover (Costco, with coupon). I paid [...] for the Bissell (Kohl's, on sale with coupon).

Where to dispose of my disabled Hoover? For people in the Chicago area, this information might be of interest:

Abt Electronics & Appliances (Glenview, IL) has an appliance recycling facility. Another company picks up the appliances from Abt, and either fixes the used appliances for resale or recycles them. For more information, go to the [...] website and search on "Recycling".

Messy and Poorly Designed Canister
We returned a previous Hoover because the suction power was significantly reduced after the first 3 uses only. This Hoover cleans adequate but lacks in the canister design quality.

1) CANISTER SIZE is deceiving. Looking at the whole unit, it may appear that the canister seems pretty big. But it only holds LESS THAN HALF of what you see. I've had dirt flying out of the 3"x3" square opening in the back of the canister when emptying it. See my photo. Plus, we have to stop and empty it 3 times for a 20x25 foot room.

2) MESSY. Dirt goes flying everywhere when emptying the can! It defeats the purpose of having a "bagless vacuum." We've owned bagless vacuums before and this is by far the only one that's had this canister problem. With the cutout that I mentioned earlier, and #3 to follow, almost makes it a necessity to have to whip out the dust mask and biohazard suit.

3) CONTENTS COME OUT WITH DIFFICULTY. When it's time to dump the dirt out, you have to physically reach into the canister and pull out the dirt. All of our previous canister vacuums had never had a problem dumping the contents out. With this Hoover, turning it upside down and tapping it won't help. You have to keep reaching in and getting your hands dirty, touching all that yucky stuff, the bugs, the dust. I really think that Quality Control was sleeping the week this product was being tested. Note: I realized a year later, you must empty it before it gets to more than half the contents, to be able to just turn it over without using your hands.

All in all, it's powerful enogh, but lacks in canister size and ease of emptying the canister. We dread this machine everytime we have to empty it. Having to empty it 3 times as much as another vacuum that we've owned before Hoover, is one thing. But having to deal with the mess is just double the trouble.

Starting from a 0:
+1 for reasonably priced (compared to a 0 Dyson)
+1 for good suction adequacy
-1 reduction for the messiness
-1 reduction for the small canister size
+1 for over a year of still, no mechanical problems

= 3 stars even though I had rated it at 2 previously because it's passed the 1-year mark.

Very heavy
This vacuum is okay, but not worth what it cost, in my opinion. It doesn't clean any better then a cheap 59.00 vacuum we had to get for upstairs because the Hoover weighs a ton. Yes, it's self propelled, but to move it from one area to another is hard because it's very heavy.I wouldn't buy one again.

I think that the vacuum is good enough for the price. It cleans the equipment and large tool works very well. In relation to the dumping of the container. . . I have some other bagless kind, and it would rate near the middle of messyness. Until you turn on the HEPA filter into the canister device, it is not so mal.J a small problem did not cut with the self, but otherwise I love attribuer.Un back is that it does not work on carpet, vacuum the carpets , the lourds.Note: 5.4

We turned a former Hoover, because the suction power reduces significantly after the first three only. The Hoover cleans enough, but is missing the quality of design cartouche.1) CARTRIDGE SIZE is misleading. Looking at the entire unit, it may seem that the cartridge seems to be big enough. But it holds less than half of what you see. I had the dirt from the 3 “x3″ square opening in the back of the cartridge is empty. See my picture. In addition, we must stop and empty it three times for a room 20×25 pieds.2) Messy. Dirt flies everywhere when emptying the box! It defeats the purpose of a “vacuum cleaner without it.” We have before and bagless vacuum cleaners owned by far the only one who had this problem cartridge. With the cuts, which I mentioned earlier, and at the 3, it is almost a necessity to have to dust mask and protective clothing can whip biologique.3) CONTENTS difficulties. When it’s time to empty the dirt, you have to physically remove the pot and the dirt away. All our previous canister had never had a problem, the actual content. With the Hoover, turns his head and tapped it will not help. You must always reached and touched his hands dirty, all these nasty things, insects, dust. I truly believe that control of the quality of sleep was the week the product was tested. Note: I have a year later, you have to empty it before it reaches more than half of the content to simply return without your mains.Dans Total, is the powerful enogh, but no cartridge size and ease of emptying the tanks. There are fears that the machine every time we have to empty. Having won three times more than the others we vacuum before empty Hoover one thing. But that is only dealing with the chaos of a dual peine.A 0: For a cheap price (compared to a $ 500 Dyson) is a good fit for the suction-1 discounts disorder -1 discount for a small cartridge for more as a year of rest, no mechanical problems = 3 stars, although I previously estimated at 2 because he broke the mark of a an.BA Rating: 5.2

The Bissell has the same type of attachment (Turbobrush). The desire for both the base of the pipe clamp is very good – better than Hoover. This vacuum is okay, but not worth what it costs, in my opinion. There is no better than 59 clean low prices. 00 to empty, we had to mount since the Hoover weighs a ton. Yes, it is self-propelled, but move from one region to another is difficult because it is very difficult. I would not buy a new one. Rating: 5.3
