not the greatest
I have owned and used a bissel lift-off for about 5 years. I have say that it worked great before if broke. Had a lot of power. If it started to lose power, that meant that the filters were plugged. I did not like the hepa filter compartment on the back. The little door was flimsy and broke at the hinges and did not shut tightly. I have it taped on with duct tape. Then it started to smoke while using the brush on carpets. At first I thought it was the rubber belt. You could actually see smoke in that area. Then my son luckily saw that it was a wiring problem. There is a little plug that connects the lift-off canister to the base when the two are together. This plug was shorting out or not quite making a good connection. By the time I realized what was burning, the plug was burnt and destroyed. I'm not sure why this happened the canister was locked on firmly. Anyhow, Like I said, it was good till it burnt up. If this wouln't have happened, the vaccum may have lasted a life-time.

Great Vacuum--love the canister option!
I purchased this vacuum with little research after the Hoover Pet Rewind attachment broke after ONE use! (Luckily Target accepted the return without question.) I have dog with straight course hair that sticks to everything and this vacuum does a great job. I will say that you need to be aware of the carpet height setting. If it is too low, you wont lift as well. The Lift-Off also works great on bare floors and gets edges very well. I love being able to use the canister portion to vacuum my car without having a big vacuum tip over and hit me in the head like my old one!
My only gripe is that the hose is short, but we were able to modify the extension that came with our old vacuum to work with this one. One word of advice is to lift the vacuum with the integrated handle on the canister part. The regular handle is screwed into plastic and will come loose. (The manual did say to lift with the canister handle so that was my mistake.)

Great Vacuum--have owned it for 5 years with 2 dogs
I have had this vacuum for 5 years now and it still works great. I originally bought it for the lift off feature, but actually rarely detach it. I have two dogs with lots of hair and it rarely clogs. I bought extra foam filters so I can still use vacuum while the other one drys after being rinsed in the sink. I love the power brush...I don't know what I did without one before to get the dog hair out of the furniture and dog beds!
I give it 4 stars because recently the body doesn't stay locked and upright--it still works fine, but I don't think you can replace the body part. It has been 5 years, so I think it had a great run!

You Get What You Pay For. . .
I have three rough-coated collies and this has to be the worst piece of junk that I have ever owned. I have had this vacuum for 4 months and have only been able to use it 15 times because the belt constantly burns and breaks! After the first 5 uses, POOF went the belt. I bought 4 new belts. I clean it *thoroughly* -- including filters and removing ALL the pet hair and debris from the brush bar -- before and DURING every use, but the belt burns and breaks EVERY TIME I USE IT! It doesn't matter where I set the brush bar height -- it overheats and burns the belt. I only have TWO BEDROOMS that have carpeting! I wish I had insisted on spending the $$$ for a new Dyson, but I thought it would not be necessary because the majority of the floors in this new house are wood. The "Shedaway Pet Grooming Tool" works great -- if you attach it to a REAL vacuum instead of this Bissel. I put it on the end of my half-dead Dyson and it's great. On the Bissel, it's a joke. I will never buy another Bissel vacuum again.

I had this vacuum for 5 years now and it still works great. I originally bought it for take-off “function, but in reality rarely solve. I have two dogs with lots of hair and hooves rare. I bought extra foam filter, so I continue to use, while the vacuum after the other washed in the sink Drys. I like the electric brush… I do not know what I have without one before getting the dog hair on furniture and beds for dogs, I give 4 stars, because it recently, the body does not stay locked up – it still works well, but I do not think you replace the body part. It has five years ago, so I think he had a great race! Rating: 5.4

I have three collies Dachshund and this must be, the worst piece of trash that I will ever owned. I had this vacuum for four months and was 15 times because the band used continuously burns and breaks! After the first 5 uses, puh a belt. I bought four new bands. I thoroughly * * – including filter and the elimination of all animal hair and dirt from the brush bar – use before and during each, but the belt burns and breaks every time I do! It does not matter where I set the height of the brush – from overheating and burning of the band. I have only two rooms have carpet! I would’ve insisted on spending $ $ $ for a new Dyson, but I thought it would not be necessary since most soils in this new house made of wood. The “Pet Shedaway tool works very well – if you connect to a real vacuum instead of Bissel. I’m half-dead at the end of my Dyson and it is great. On the Bissel is a joke. I will never buy another Bissell vacuum. Rating: 5.1
